About The New Hampshire Jazz Orchestra
Founded in the Fall of 2021, The NH Jazz Orchestra’s mission is to connect some of the most talented musicians in the region to audiences that appreciate the excitement and performance of Big Band music. Honing and crafting this ensemble to the highest standards of the genre, is its Music Director, Clayton “Skip” Poole and his son, Assistant Director CJ Poole. Clayton brings more than forty years of professional big band performing experience to the group, having worked with such luminaries as Mel Tormé, Cab Calloway, Rosemary Clooney, Maynard Ferguson and Johnny Mathis to name only a few. In addition, CJ adds the component of a younger perspective, with his talents as a professional bassist and acclaimed vocal ability which was encouraged by the late, great jazz guitarist, Bucky Pizzarelli. Additionally, The NH Jazz Orchestra strives to fund music education through their collaborative residencies throughout NH and live performances across Greater New England.
